Hannay heads south from Yorkshire Carnegie

Ealing Trailfinders can announce Nathan Hannay as their latest signing ahead of their return to the Greene King IPA Championship.

The second row joins from Yorkshire Carnegie, for whom he has played since 2013. Hannay has featured 31 times in two season and scored two tries and is the club’s second signing of the summer after Tom Bliss joined on loan from Wasps last week.

“Ealing Trailfinders are an ambitious club who have been threatening to challenge at this level for some time and I am excited by the challenge of helping them take that next step in their progress, ” Hannay said.

Hannay is a Yorkshire lad, having been born in Halifax and prior to moving to Headlingley the 30-year-old played for Launceston and Jersey, who he helped to the 2012 National 1 title.

During the 2012-13 season Hannay captained Jersey and his form also earned him selection for the Championship representative team who took on the Maori All Blacks.

After moving to Carnegie he helped them to the Championship playoffs, the British and Irish Cup final and featured in both matches against Ealing Trailfinders.

“Nathan is someone who we have followed for a few years since he first played against us in our first season in National 1 whilst playing for Jersey, ” Director of Coaching Ben Ward said.

“He brings a physicality to the front five that we know is vital at Championship level and will also fit into our gameplay, especially with his ball carrying ability.”
