Lewis and Rodders extend deals at Vallis Way
Lewis Thiede and Sam Rodman have both extended their deals with Ealing Trailfinders to ensure that the tight-head prop position will be well-covered for the 2017-18 season.
Thiede arrived before the current campaign from fellow Greene King IPA Championship side Rotherham Titans and brought experience of playing for Yorkshire Carnegie and London Scottish with him.
Since arriving the 26-year-old has made 26 appearances and become first choice in the number three jersey.
“I have really enjoyed my first season at Ealing Trailfinders and playing every week has been a massive positive,” Thiede said. “With the help of Alex Codling and Ben Ward I feel I'm back playing some of my best rugby after a couple of average seasons.
“Alex Codling has helped me a lot and has enabled me to have one of my most successful seasons to date. With the direction the club is going in and with a great group of lads, I wouldn't want to be at any other club and it will be an exciting season next year.”
Sam Rodman is completing his second season at the club and has played 13 times this campaign.
The 24-year-old joined the club after he graduated from Leeds Beckett University and has now completed two seasons of professional rugby.
“Ealing Trailfinders are a good club play for and I have enjoyed my two years here,” Rodman said. “They are a club that are going places, looking to push on next season and I wouldn’t want to play for anyone else.
“The coaching with Ben Ward and Alex Codling is very good and I am learning all the time and developing as a player.”
Thiede and Rodman will be competing with new signing Mark Tampin for the number three shirt in the coming campaign, after he signed from Jersey Reds in April.
“I’m delighted to have Lewis and Sam on board next season,” Director of Rugby Ben Ward said. “Our set piece has been strong and they have played an important part in that.
“They know our game plan well and understand what the club is about and how we like to play and I’m looking forward to seeing both guys kick on and develop further next year.”
