Scarlets to visit for Cup quarterfinal
Ealing Trailfinders will take on Scarlets Premiership Select in their first ever British and Irish Cup quarterfinal at Vallis Way on Saturday 11 March with kick-off at 2pm.
It will be the first time that Ben Ward’s side have taken on the west Wales outfit. Like Ealing Trailfinders they topped their pool with 22 points, but were placed fifth in the draw as they had a worse points difference than Ealing Trailfinders who were placed fourth.
Dai Flanagan’s side won all three of their home pool matches, against Nottingham, Richmond and Leinster A, but lost away to Richmond and Leinster A.
Fly-half or centre Billy McBryde inspired their fightback against Nottingham in the final pool match and if his name is familiar to rugby fans it is because he is the son of former Wales international and current Wales forwards’ coach Robin McBryde.
They are led by captain Morgan Allen, who used to play for the Ospreys and who won Wales honours at U18 and U20 level.
Scarlets teams are well-known for playing an exciting style of rugby and the likes of Stephen Jones, Rhys Priestland, George North and Jonathan Davies have all come through their ranks, which means they are likely to feature some future Wales’ stars when they visit west London.
